It’s A Salad Day!

Salads are usually a favorite of everyone. Even children these days are crazy about having different types of salads. Salad keeps you fresh and healthy and also makes you feel light. People who are fond of going for a diet must have a bowl of salad every day with some variation in order to give their taste buds a variety.

It’s A Salad Day!

Some people prefer not having any food when they are on a diet which is definitely not the correct approach, rather than not having anything and making yourself drowsy and weak it is always great to have salad; salad is rich in nutrients because of the presence of fruits and vegetables in it. Below are some recipes suggested which can provide a greater level of nutrients and variety to your food.

Yogurt salad

Ingredients:

  • One cup apples,
  • One cup cucumber,
  • One cup carrots,
  • 5 to 6 black olives,
  • Half cup pineapples,
  • One and half cups yogurt,
  • Salt to taste,
  • Half teaspoon black pepper

Method:

In a bowl add apples, cucumbers, carrots, pineapples, olives cut into pieces, yogurt, salt, black pepper and yogurt and mix all these ingredients well. Keep the salad in the refrigerator and serve chilled.

Pasta salad

Ingredients:

  • One cup boiled pasta,
  • One cup boiled chicken,
  • One cup lettuce chopped,
  • One cup apples,
  • One cup cucumber,
  • Half cup mushrooms,
  • Salt to taste,
  • Half teaspoon black pepper,
  • One and half cups yogurt,
  • One cup boiled potatoes

Method:

In a bowl pour yogurt and beat it well. Add chicken, pasta, apples, cucumber, mushroom potatoes, salt, black pepper and lettuce in the same bowl and mix well. Serve chilled.

 

Russian salad

Ingredients:

  • One cup potatoes boiled,
  • One cup cucumber,
  • One cup boiled peas,
  • One boiled egg,
  • One cup carrots,
  • Three tablespoons mayonnaise,
  • Three tablespoons fresh cream,
  • Half teaspoon black pepper,
  • One teaspoon salt.

Method:

In a bowl add mayonnaise and cream and mix them well. In the same bowl add potatoes, cucumber, peas, mashed egg, carrots, salt and black pepper. Mix all the ingredients well and serve chilled. This salad is not for the ones who need a diet salad because of the presence of mayonnaise and cream, if you want to make this one a diet salad you can replace mayonnaise and cream with  one and half cup yogurt.It’s A Salad Day!
